"Nutrition For The Whole Person"
National Art Honor Society students from the Dantonio Art Center created this 4' by 16' mural painting for the New Castle County, Delaware Detention Center.
The theme is Nutrition and the NAHS students approahed the theme by focusing
on different aspects of mental health with a particular empasis on activities
which stimulate a healthy mental state.
The painting has six parts, each showing different activities which engage the mind and body. It starts with the physical body with running and dancing then progresses towards activities more mental in nature - painting, playing music, reading then eventually leading back to
the physical body with the cook.
The background shows energy of the body that is radiated from the
person when each activity is engaged in.
It is hoped that this will enlighten the students at the Detention Center.
The members of DFYA, "Delaware Foundation for Youth in Art" were supporters
for this magnificent piece of healing art artwork.

Prints of this healing arts mural are available with all proceeds
going to community outreach and healing arts projects.
